Audit Committee
Over the last year, all Council meetings have taken place online to minimise the risk to councillors, staff and the public from COVID 19. From the 7th of May 2021 the Council must again make its decisions in face to face publicly accessible meetings. The council is required by law to completed a risk assessment to ensure that meeting arrangements protect the safety of councillors, staff and the public. These meetings will take place in Muriel Matters House and will be facilitated in a COVID safe maner according to the latest government guidance.
The meetings will look very different and all councillors will still be using TEAMs to stream and record the meeting so that the widest number of people can access the meeting. Given requirements on social distancing there are restrictions on space in our meetings rooms so we would continue to encourage members of the public to watch meetings online (https://www.hastings.gov.uk/my-council/cm/ ) via the Council’s website.
If you do feel you need to attend in person please note places are limited and the public will be admitted approximately fifteen minutes before the start of a meeting on a first come basis via the reception area of Muriel Matters House.
Purpose of committee
The Audit Committee monitors the council’s arrangements for financial governance and stewardship, risk management and audit. The committee also receives advice and reports from the council’s external auditors. The Audit Committee produces an annual report to Full Council on the effectiveness of council’s internal audit system.
The Audit Committee meets four times a year. The meetings are usually held in the Council Chamber, Muriel Matters House and are generally open for the public to attend. Paper copies of the agenda for Audit Committee meetings are available on request from Democratic Services
